As an emerging artist, I am inspired by the delicate yet complex forms of the natural world. This inspiration is reflected in my mixed media wearable artworks, where organic shapes evoke beauty, hope, and renewal, and bird imagery suggests movement, resilience, and transformation. My cultural roots in Aotearoa, together with experiences abroad and my current life in Brisbane, shape a practice that blurs the boundaries between adornment and small-scale sculpture.
Each piece is carefully conceived and hand-formed through an intuitive, sculptural process. I aim to create wearable artworks that invite the wearer into an intimate, sensory connection with both the work and the natural world that inspires it, offering moments of reflection.
My journey began following spinal surgery, a time of personal healing, and was enriched by reflective travels through Europe, where the beauty of Paris and its florals first inspired my wearable art—camellias and roses emerging as early motifs. Returning home, it was the native flora and fauna of Australia and New Zealand, both deeply personal landscapes, that began to shape and evolve my practice. These experiences, woven with my cultural heritage and present life in Australia, continue to inform my evolving practice and inspire collections that resonate with memory, emotion, and the enduring poetry of nature.
