Kerry Thompson
Kerry Thompson (Ngāti Paoa) is a master carver and one of Aotearoa’s leading contemporary Māori artists. With over 20 years of experience, Kerry is celebrated for his distinctive jade (pounamu) and bone carvings, as well as his work in materials like gold, opal, and mammoth ivory.
His pieces reflect a deep cultural connection and bold artistic vision, exhibited both in New Zealand and internationally. Kerry works alongside his wife Amanda, with family and whakapapa at the heart of his creative journey.
