Pūkaea – Voice of the Ancestors
The pūkaea is a traditional Māori trumpet, carved from wood and rich in cultural significance. Often known as a "war trumpet," it was used to signal during times of conflict. Yet its powerful voice also rang out in peace—announcing ceremonies, marking seasonal cycles, and calling communities together. More than a tool, the pūkaea embodies connection: to land, to people, and to the rhythms of life.
